21st Asian TV Cup

After winning the CCTV Cup (see "Kong Jie wins the 2009 CCTV Cup"), Kong was eager to show his good form in the Asian TV Cup.

The participants were Lee Sedol (19th and 20th editions champion), Lee Changho (KBS winner) and Kang Dongyun(KBS 3rd place) from Korea, Kong Jie (CCTV winner) and Zhou Heyang (CCTV runner-up) from China and Yuki Satoshi (NHK winner) and Takemiya Masaki (NHK runner-up) from Japan.

In the first round, Lee was seeded, Zhou won by resign against Takemiya, Kong defeated Kang and Lee Changho won against Yuki.

In the semifinals, Lee won against Zhou and Kong managed a difficult 2.5 win against Lee Changho.

The final game was crazy, Lee and Kong showed great fighting spirit. In the end, seeing that he was 5 points behind, Lee didn't defend properly in the upper left corner, allowing Kong to start a one sided ko. (SGF file)
