Michael Redmond's 500th career win

Michael Redmond was born in 1963 in Santa Barbara, California, and began playing Go at age 11. At the age of 14, he became an insei at the Nihon Ki-in. He was promoted to professional 1 dan at age 18 and 9 dan in 2000, becoming the first western Go professional to reach 9 dan.
Currently he is a well known commentator for the NHK channel and sponsor to many Go activities in America such as the Redmond Cup and the Redmond Handicap Tournament.
According to John Fairbairn, Michael Redmond has just recorded his 500th career win, the 85th to reach this target in Japanese go, and the 1st westerner.
His career record is 500 wins, 331 losses and 2 jigos. First win on 3 June 1981 and the 500th on 23 April 2009.
