Bookmark | < Prev | Next >
Choi Cheol-han, born in March 12, 1985, has become a professional Go player in South Korea at the age of 12. He studied in the best korean baduk academy, Kwon Kap Yong (Lee Sedol studied there as well), since he was 7.

Until now, his only international tournament won was the 2nd Zhonghuan Cup (2005), when he managed to beat Lee Sedol.

The Ing Cup is sponsored by Ing Chang-ki, Ing, Yomiuri Shimbun, the Nihon-Kiin, and Kansai-Kiin. The Ing Cup is special because it uses its own rules and a rather large 8 point komi. It is also held every 4 years. The thinking time is 3 hours. The first rounds are knockouts, while the semi-finals and finals are a best-of-3 and best-of-5 respectively.

Choi lost to Chang Hao the final of the 5th ING Cup, but managed to win the 6th against Lee Changho with 3-1, in a best of five final (after 2-0 against Liu Xing in the semifinal).
